Obituary of Alice Mae Lemcke

Alice Mae Lemcke, age 85 of Pennsville passed away Thursday June 23, 2011 at the Hospice Facility in Staratford, NJ. She was born in Union City, NJ and was the daughter of the late Albert and Mathilda Rosebrock Nurge. She attended elementary school in Union City and graduated from Emerson High School. She and her husband Albert married in 1948 and moved to Salem County, where he worked for DuPont. When her children were of school age Alice attended Glassboro State College, graduating Cum Laude in 1969 with a Bachelors degree in education. She taught first grade in Pennsville for 21 years. Alice enjoyed reading, bridge, and traveling. She visited Alaska, China, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, and many European Countries. She was a charter member of the St. Ambrose Lutheran Church, Pennsville and the Pennsville Historical Society. Alice is survived by her husband of 62 years Albert J. Lemcke, son, Paul Lemcke and his wife Linda and a daughter Martha and her husband Joe, brother, Robert Nerge and his wife Marie, 2 grandsons, and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters, Ethel Nerg, Anna Hatzfeld, and Kathleen Nurge. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday June 27 at the St. Ambrose Lutheran Church, Pennsville. Friends may call Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Laughrey Funeral Home Pennsville and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Monday prior to the service. Burial will be private.
