Obituary of Thomas W. White

Thomas W. White, age 72, of Pennsville, NJ passed away on July 16th, 2021. He was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1948 and grew up in the Paulsboro and Gibbstown area where he remained until 1973 when he moved to Pennsville. He accepted a job at the United States Post Office which he worked at for the next 36 years before retiring in 2008. In 1978, Tom founded the Pennsville Soccer Association in which he was deeply involved in coaching, administrating, and being a general influence within the organization for the next 25 years. One of his favorite contributions to the association was the time he dedicated to refereeing. When he retired from the USPS in 2008, he received the highest honor of his life when the Pennsville Soccer Complex was named after him. He was also an avid reader who started each day reading the newspaper and took pleasure in being a huge Civil War buff. He is predeceased by his father, William, his mother, Mary, along with his beloved soulmate and partner, Sandy, and his main dog, Bozwell. He is survived by his brothers, William White (Betty) of Pitman, NJ and David White (Laurie) of Thousand Oaks, CA, children Tim White (Renee) of Santa Rosa, CA, Sherri Staring (Ron), Richard Ecret, and Nicole Horn (Chuck), and by his favorite group of people in the world, his grandchildren, Drew and Marissa Staring, and Kyle, Austin, and Breanne Ruhl all of Pennsville, NJ. Per Tom's wishes, there will be no public services, however, sometime in the near future, Tom will return to the place he loved best. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Tom's memory to support the Pennsville Soccer Association.
