Herbert M. Ackley Sr. of Woodstown NJ died early Tuesday morning September 22, 2020 at Manor Care in West Deptford, NJ. He had been in failing health for the past year.
Herbert was born in Deerfield, NJ on October 2, 1928 to the late Allen D. Sr. and Bessie (Hitchner) Ackley.
He graduated from Bridgeton High School with the class of 1948. He worked as a technician for Cowan's Appliance/Repair in Pennsgrove, NJ and later opened Ackley's Appliance/Repair in Woodstown, NJ . He married the late Lzetta (Woolman) Humphrey of Elmer, March 17, 1951. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his six children, Deborah and her husband Richard Fenstermaker of Brookville, PA. and Leslie Grimming of Pennsville, NJ and Herbert Ackley Jr. and his wife Dorothy (Leatherwood) of Boothwyn, PA and Donna Ackley of Deptford, NJ and Mark Ackley Sr. of New Castle, DE and Merle Ackley of Haskell, TX. also survived by nine Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren Brian and his wife Mandi( Ropiak) and their sons Silas and Benjamin Grimming of Pennsville, NJ and Joshua and Angelique (Neeld) Grimming of Alloway and Kelly(Ackley) and her husband Francesco and their sons Alberto,Partizio,Matteo Ciaburri of Maple Grove, PA and Hope Ackley and her daughter Luna of Boothwyn, PA and Julio J. Ynigues III of CA and Mark Ackley Jr. of Dawsonville, GA and Erin Ackley of West Deptford, NJ and Stacy Bachman(Ackley) of Pennsville, NJ and Blake Tanyer (Ackley) of Pennsville and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, John .J Ackley, Chaplain Lt. Col. Robert H Ackley, Chaplain Lt. Col. Allen D Ackley Jr. and Donald B Ackley and two sisters Ruth Ackley and Lillian S Ackley. Son in Laws Peter H. Morroni and Gary K. Grimming Sr. and grandson Gary K. Grimming Jr.
