Obituary of Edith L. Babb

Edith L. Babb of Pennsville Edith Lois Babb, proudly devoted wife, mother and Nana, passed away Friday, August 28 at the age of 85. Edith was formerly of Machiasport, Maine and moved to Pennsville in 2002. Edith was a twin - born on May 9, 1935; she was the seventh of eight daughters to the late Victor and Clara Pettigrow, also of Machiasport. Edith was a great fan of word searches, cats, "country and western" music (especially Ray Price), scotch tape, Christmas decorations and bingo. And, as many would tell you: Nana was Nana. Always dressed well, Edith would never turn down a trip to Walmart or the dollar store; if you invited her out to lunch, be prepared to do battle over who would pay! Edith would often fight you and insist she pay the bill - she usually won. Edith is survived by her daughter, Tanya Leturgey (Timmy) of Deland, Florida; grandchildren Jensine (McKie) Szanyi (Adam) of Carneys Point, Jessica (McKie) Maldonado (Lionel) of Mullica Hill, John McKie, III of Voorhees, Shannon, Cheyenne and Michael Roberts (Christina) of Maine, Mark Grimes of Florida; 14 great-grandchildren; sister Judith Nutter of Maine and her beloved cat, Annie. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Babb; her sisters Alice Sprague, Charlene Rowe, Ida Stanhope, Doris Jordan, Jeanie Calar, Edna Hatt (her twin) and her daughters, Nesya Lawrence and Debbie Babb. For those who would like to express condolences, or to tell us how often Edith would beat you at bingo. A memorial service will be held 7:00 PM on Wednesday September 9th at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 6:00 to 7:00 prior to the service. Burial will be private.
