Obituary of William C. Cooksey

William C. Cooksey, age 102 of Pennsville, NJ passed away on Monday August 17, 2020 at the Friends Village of Woodstown. Bill was born in Newport, AR and was the son of the late James Littleton Cooksey, Sr., and Lucy Carroll Cooksey. He was a longtime Pennsville resident. Bill was a sergeant with the Pennsville Police Department for 34 years, retiring in 1976. He served his country in the navy (Pacific Theater) during WWII, a life member of the Salem County F.O.P. and the Pennsville Fire Department. He and his late wife, Sarah, enjoyed spending time with their family, winters in Fort Myers Beach, FL, shuffle boarding, horse races and their many friends at Red Coconut RV Park. Bill was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Sarah E. Hurley Cooksey, his siblings, Jane Driskill, James Cooksey, Ella Scofield, Herbert Cooksey, Mary Locke and Lucy Cooksey. He is survived by his three children, son, John B. Cooksey and his wife Karen, daughters, Sally MacDonald of Pennsville and Billie Cooksey of Mantua, NJ, brother, Charles Cooksey of Wilmington, DE, seven grandchildren and their families, Billie Carberry, Less MacDonald, Marlo Messick, Donald Maconi, John Cooksey, Kirk Cooksey, and Will MacDonald, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Monday August 24th at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 75 South Broadway, Pennsville, NJ where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service.
