Obituary of Richard A. Gilbert

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Alancy Gilbert of Pennsville NJ passed away on April 13th at the age of 78 after many years of health issues, finally losing his battle to Melanoma. Richard was born in Pittsfield, ME to Eugene and Beverly Gilbert. He was a man of many words whose laugh and smile was so infectious it didn't take long for everyone he was near to join him in laughter. He loved spending time with his family, whether that was fishing in the Outer Banks NC, summers in Chincoteague VA, or sharing turkey legs at Walt Disney World. Richard is a DuPont retiree who also loved being outdoors and working in his yard. He enjoyed coaching Little League softball and he could always be found at his grandchildren's sports and performing arts events as they were what he was the most proud of. He is survived by Regeina (Heigle) his beloved wife of 55 years, his children Eugene (Gina), Nicole (John), and four granddaughters Bailee and Brooke Gilbert, Hannah and Katie Cooksey. He is also survived by his siblings Carlene Bloxom, William Gilbert (JoAnn), and Michele Wiley Brown. And finally he is survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased in death by his parents, Beverly and Eugene. Family services and a Celebration of Richard's Life will be held on a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Richard's memory to the Gift of Life Donor Program (401 N 3rd St. Philadelphia, PA 19123), Pennsville Visiting Nurses (14 N Broadway, Pennsville NJ, 08070), or SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young (www.say.org/donate). www.laughreyfuneralhome.com
