Thelma E. Voorhees, age 63 of Pennsville passed away on June 12, 2011 at her residence. She was born in Pleasantville, NJ and was the daughter of the late Howard G. and Alvine Walker Crothers, and stepmother Pearl Crothers. Thelma was a longtime Pennsville resident. She was currently employed as a secretary for the Pennsville Visiting Nurses Association and volunteered at Ranch Hope Thrift Store in Sharptown. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Pennsville, and was Queen Mum of the Pennsville Red Hats. Thelma enjoyed life to the fullest and enjoyed trips the casinos and cruises and the beach house in Rehoboth Beach, DE and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Survived by a son, Jeffrey A. Voorhees and his wife Sheryl and a daughter Michelle K. Voorhees of Pennsville, son, Robert O. Straughn and his wife Susan and daughter Tracy D. Straughn of DE, brothers, Howard E. Crothers of Fl, Robert J. Crothers of Pennsville, sisters, Betty J. Haupt of Pennsville and Carol Gladhill, and 8 grandchildren. Predeceased by her first husband George E. Voorhees (1986) and second husband Robert O. Straughn (2004). Funeral services will be held 7:00 PM on June 16th at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 6:00 to 7:00. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Pennsville Visiting Nurses Assoc. 14 N. Broadway, Pennsville, NJ 08070.
