Obituary of Zachary J. Shimp

Zachary (Zak) John Shimp, age 34 of Pennsville, NJ, passed away suddenly on December 11, 2019. Zak was born to Debra (O'Connor) and Richard Shimp on January 22, 1985. He graduated Pennsville Memorial High School in 2004. Zachary John was a jack of all trades. He was a talented, kind soul who had a way of touching people's lives. Zak thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors: striper fishing, boating, gardening and snowboarding. He was an avid wrestler for many years. Zak adored his cats Sweet Pea and Bud. He could often be found taking long walks with a Wawa coffee in hand. Zak was an employee of Brian Cowan's Auto Center. The family would like to thank Brian and Rhonda for their mentorship and support. Zak is survived by his daughter Hailey Shimp, his mother Debra A. (O'Connor) Shimp (boyfriend Hal Edleman), father Richard E. Shimp, brothers Derek, Dane (Kristy), sister Randi Shimp, nieces Cianna, Mylie, and Lainey (Derek), nephew Carter (Dane and Kristy), grandmother Barbara Shimp and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his cousin Travis (Angela) McCarthy and nephew Finnley. He is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Roland Shimp and maternal grandparents Jack J. and Marie O'Connor. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday December 14th at the Laughrey Funeral Home Pennsville where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will be private.
