Joseph Martinez, age 89 of Pennsville died Friday October 22, 2010 at the Memorial Hospital of Salem County. He was born in Buffalo, NY and was the son of the late, Valentine and Manuela Gimeno Martinez. Joe has be a resident of Pennsville since 1984. He was employed as a supervisor in the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration area at the AT&T site in New York, NY where he retired in 1984 following 38 years service. He was a WWII Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater and a member of the St. George's Episcopal Church of Pennsville. Survived by his wife of 61 years Gloria A. Straud, daughters, Linda A. and husband the Rev. M. George Elliott of Toronto, Canada and Barbara A. Martrinez of New Rochelle, NY, sisters, Ruth Opiela and Helen Sampogne of PA, Mary Mildred Lattanzio of NY and Catherine Santarielli of FL, grandchildren, Elizabeth Maki and Matthew Elliott of Toronto Canada. Predeceased by a brother Vincent Martines and sisters, Phyllis Salas and Mary Tessitore. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM at the St. George's Episcopal Church, Pennsville where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the church Cemetery.
