Obituary of Jan J. Blanker

Please share a memory of Jan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jan "Dutch" Blanker, age 71, of Pennsville, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2011. Dutch was born in Rotterdam, Holland. He was the son of the late Teuntje and Adrianus Blanker. He was predeceased by his brother Johannes Blanker. After years of travel throughout the world in the merchant marines, he finally settled in the United States where he met his wife Barbara of 32 years. Together they built a lifetime of wonderful memories. His love of water led him to his career working for Weeks Marine, Camden. Dutch also enjoyed many simple things in life. He was an avid fisherman and always knew where to find and how to catch "the big one." He also loved to play soccer and loved watching his daughter grow and share that same love. One of his favorite activities was spending time with his granddaughter Maddie. Life seemed to stand still every moment he got to spend with her. He was a loving and generous father and grandfather and will truly be missed. He is survived by his wife Barbara of 32 years, daughter Lisa and husband Bill, sons Earl and Guy, and granddaughter Maddie. A memorial service in his honor will be held 8:00 PM on Tuesday April 12, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 7:00 to 8:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will be private.
