Olive P. Smith, age 83 of Pennsville passed away on Thursday March 31, 2010 at the Christiana Care Hospital, Newark, DE. She was born in Aitch, PA and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Jennie Hinkle Mellott. Olive was a longtime Pennsville resident. She was a waitress for several restaurants in the area including Richman's and Pier 13 where she retired. She worked for the Pennsville election committee for over 20 years. Survived by her husband of 56 years Glenn L. Smith, daughters, Glenda L. Smith Morgan and husband Alan, and Sondra K. Hiles and husband Matthew of Pennsville, brothers, James Mellott of Martinsburg, PA, Paul Mellott of Avis, PA and Robert Mellott of SC., sisters, Mary Virginia Delozier of PA, Dolly Stroup of Las Vegas, NV, grandchildren, Olivia L. Morgan, Julia K Morgan, Maxwell S. Hiles, Kane W. Hiles, and Tori K. Hiles all of Pennsville, numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Banco, brothers, Arthur Glenn "Skinny" Mellott, and Lawrence Mellott. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday April 4, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the service.
