Lillian Agnes Pierce Richards, age 88, of Pennsville, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2011, at Merion Gardens Assisted Living in Carney's Point. Born in Penns Grove on August 3, 1922, daughter of the late Edith Mitchell and Sylvester C. Pierce. She was a graduate of "ReHi" Penns Grove High School and a lifelong Salem County resident. She is predeceased by her husband of sixty-two years, William J. Richards (2003); sisters, Constance Raighn, and Hilda Bobb; brothers, Richard Pierce and James Pierce. Lillian was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was employed by NJ Bell Telephone Company. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing. She was President of Queen of the Apostles Altar and Rosary Society and sang in the church folk group and choir for many years. She was the beloved mother of five, Yvonne Ramsey (husband Charles) of Pennsville, NJ, Donna Sheridan (husband James) of Palo Alto, CA, Eileen Casey (husband Ken) of Pennsville, NJ, Jeanmaire Waddington (husband Terry) of Pennsville, NJ, and William Richards of Sanford, FL; the beloved grandmother of twelve, Joseph Ramsey, Barbra McGann and her husband Kevin, Nicole Cleaves and her husband Chad, Lauren Sheridan, Rachel Sheridan, Jeremy Foltz, Jessica Harrison and her husband Charles, Terry Waddington, Eric Waddington, Rhonda Waddington, William Richards and Katherine Richards; and beloved great-grandmother of seven, Garrett Ramsey, Grace and Megan McGann, Kaelen and Audrey Cleaves, Nathan Harrison, and Trevor Lee Waddington. She is also survived by her brother, David Pierce of Landenburg, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Monday April 4, at the Queen of the Apostles Roman Catholic Church, Pennsville, where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org, 1-800-DIABETES or American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
