Obituary of Mildred W. Borders

Mildred (Becky) Overstreet Borders, 90, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend passed away peacefully on June 10, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Becky was born March 2, 1927 in Brookneal, Va. Daughter of the late Aubrey and Elizabeth Hamlet Overstreet. One of 9 children she assisted her parents in raising her siblings while the family worked the family tobacco farm in Campbell county Va. At the age of 18 she moved to the city of Lynchburg where she went to work at the Craddock Terry Shoe Company and soon met and married Harry Williams. She and Harry moved to NJ where he went to work for the DuPont Company and she went to work for the Anchor Hocking Glass factory, where she worked for the next 35 years. Becky was a friend to many and a Mother to many more. She lovingly opened her home to all and served others with a compassionate heart of kindness and mercy. She whistled when she talked and could bake anyones blues away with her homemade fudge or peanut brittle. She hugged just right and she had the ability to laugh at herself. Becky is survived by her biological Son H. Wayne Williams of Pennsville as well as a host of adopted Sons and Daughters all across the US, two biological Grandchildren Aaron Williams of Pennsville and Dana Garre (Bill) of Wichita, KS, three biological Great-Grandchildren, Wyatt, Gabriella and Samuel and enough adopted Grandchildren to fill a stadium. Two Sisters Nancy O. Klahn of Newark, DE and Brenda O. Green (Jim) of Phenix, Va. One brother, Carroll C. Overstreet (Yolanda) of The Villages, FL and many many nieces, nephews and friends. There will be a viewing Tuesday night at Laughrey funeral home in Pennsville from 7 to 9. Burial services will be Friday afternoon at the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Brookneal, Va.
