Madeleine VanDenHende, 101, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on April 2, 2016.
She was born in Belgium on November 6, 1914 and came to America at the age of nine. Madeleine was predeceased by Edmund, her husband of 50 years, daughter Joanne Burkhead, and son-in-law Virgil Gross.
She was a volunteer at the Trinity West Hospital in Illinois until she was 90 and had 16,995 volunteer hours.
She is survived by her three daughters, Joyce Short (Bill), Jean Gross, and Julie Smith; Grandmother to Mark Gross, Kevin Gross, Julie Acton (John), Troy Gross, and Terese Welch (Chris); and 13 other Grandchildren throughout the USA. She also has 33 Great-Grandchildren and 24 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services are set for April 30 in Rock Island, Illinois. www.laughreyfuneralhome.com
