Obituary of Barbara J. Harris

Barbara Jean Sheppard Harris, age 86, passed away at the home of her son and wife in Sewell, NJ, Thursday, March 2, 2016. Born in Salem to the late Mamie and Thomas Sheppard, Barbara grew up in Salem and moved to Pennsville NJ after marrying her late husband, Wally R. Harris. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Pennsville NJ until she moved in with her son Fred and his wife Cheryl in September 2012. Barbara was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and baking. She took pride in helping her husband decorate their yard each Christmas season. She also enjoyed her nightly summer visits on the gazebo with her neighbors who resided on Pennsylvania Ave. Barbara is survived by her son Fred J and wife Cheryl L of Sewell NJ, her two grandchildren Shane and Morgan and 3 step grandchildren; Amanda (Kenneth), Christine(Trevor) and Brendon. She also was predeceased by her sister Doris Grant (John) and niece Pamela. Barbara also was survived by Gwen Williams; her loving and caring nurse who provided comfort, support and love over the last 2 1/2 years. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Monday March 7, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the St. Georges Cemetery, Pennsville.
