Mike: He was a good guy and I remember him well. He was one of Coach D'Angelos favorite players and a tough guy. When he was at Tech he came up to Spotsylvania High School (Va) to speak at our team dinner, stayed with me and we had a lot of memories of PMHS. I last talked with him awhile back at the VFW...we talked football and had many laughs. I will remember him as one of the best to come out of PMHS as a football player.
RIP Hokie

Like several people on this tribute board, Mike was a high school friend of mine. And while I loss touch with him after PMHS & college days, there were many times I thought of Mike -- his wonderful wit, engaging smile and, yes, his unshakable bravado :-) and wished I could have listened to his stories and laughed with him one more time. "Widger" had one of the greatest laughs!
Rest in peace, Mike, and may your family find heart-filling solace in their wonderful memories of you.

It was a sad day, when I heard that my old roomie "The Widge" had passed. It seems like it was yesterday, when we had those great years in our youth, along with DJ and Duncan and Jorma, we shared a great house in Ste Marguerite.
Mike was a great friend to me and he and I were tough competition as a Cribbage team, at the Al's training camps in St Jean.
Mike played hard and lived harder. I know, I couldn't keep up with him, although I did try!
Crescent Street Mike, the legend, was great friends with Ralph Lockwood and Ted Blackman, who, lived the hard life with Mike
.
A lot of folks at Mont Tremblant, remember Mike fondly from the years he spent golfing and skiing in the area.
R.I.P. old buddy.

To the Widger Family,
I remember Mike as a loyal friend. I remember a wintry night in Montreal and having a bad cold. Mike, ran out to a pharmacy and brought some cold medicine back to me. I remember all of the good times with Jorma & Derek. We shared many laughs and many good dinners all over the city of Montreal. I remember Mike's sister Natalie coming up to visit. Mike, wanted to make sure she had a good time and wanted his friends to be a part of it. I remember how he talked about his mom. He loved her very much and was very proud of her many accomplishments. I knew a Mike Widger that loved his family and cared so much about his real friends. Mike, I will miss you I only wish we could have kept in touch. I last saw you about 12 years ago when I visited you in Pennsville. I have thought about you on many occasions since then ..... I am thinking about you now.

Mike Widger was one of the great LBs who played for the Hokies. We are the same age, and I enjoyed so much watching Mike and the Hokies in Lane Stadium.
Many times people will ask, "Who is the best at such-and-such position." Mike Widger is a part of any conversation regarding linebackers!
May the family be comforted by the Lord at this time of loss.
