Obituary of Emily V. Messick

Emily V. Messick (nee Wetzel) age 91, of Pennsville, NJ died on November 9, 2015 with her family at her side. She was born in Deepwater, NJ and lived in Pennsville for most of her life. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Messick Jr. (1992), her son Jonny (1978), her parents Elizabeth (Prasch) (1987) and William O. Wetzel (1966), a sister Wilma Stepler (2004), a brother James (Mike) Wetzel, (1997) and her granddaughter Veronica Childers (1969). She is survived by her sons: Robert Wetzel (the late Connie), Harry Messick (Sharon), and Darryl Messick (Robin) all of Pennsville; her daughters: Nancy Messick of Bellmawr, Diane Giordano of Nokomis, Florida, Wilma Messick, and Linda Sheppard (Chip) both of Gibbstown; grandchildren, Brenda Livingston, Gloria Dalbow, Patsy Maltman, Connie Mumick, Karen Capone, Michael Maiolino, Brian, Shannon, Jason, Tim, Sam and Dustin Messick; twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Emily worked for DuPont - Chambers Works in the Technical Laboratory after graduating from high school until she started her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, trips to the seashore, traveling and was an avid Phillies fan. She was a member of the Deepwater Methodist Church and volunteered delivering meals for Meals on Wheels for many years. In lieu of flowers, please be nice to someone today. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 11 at Lawnside Cemetery, Pilesgrove, NJ. Arrangements are being made by Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville, NJ.
