Thomas (Tom) Littel was born in Philadelphia on February 26, 1923 and died on 1 October 2015 at the Cooper University Medical Center in Camden New Jersey. He attended schools in Philadelphia, Penns Grove, New Jersey, graduating from Saint James High School in 1942. He served in the United States Navy from 1942-1945, participating in many of the naval campaigns in the Pacific area of operations. He earned 5 battles stars and other commendations during his service. He attended Niagara University in New York, graduating with a business administration degree in 1949. He worked several years for his father, Thomas Littel, building houses in Pennsville. Tom retired after working for Pennsville High School, serving as the Business Administrator for the school. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Margaret Littel, his wife Joan ( d, 2013), and his sisters Mary Oleck (d 2006) (Steve), Margaret Lloyd (d 2015) (Wally d 2008), brother John (d 2015) (Barbara) and infant brother William. He is survived by his sister Catherine (Cass) (Leon d 2014), and more than a score of nieces and nephews who he loved. Uncle Tom will be remembered most for his love for his country, his family and good friends, golf and pinochle, and his unfailing loyalty for the Eagles and the Phillies. He was a voracious reader of history and a lifelong Pennsville native. Tom spent his last year at Friends Village in Woodstown. There will be an interment service with military honors on 16 October at 2 pm, Finns Point National Cemetery, Pennsville, New Jersey.
