Obituary of William H. Newsome, Jr.

William (Bill) Herbert Newsome, Jr., 83, died peacefully at home September 16, 2015. Bill was a life long resident of Pennsville, son of William H. Newsome, Sr. and Evelyn Norma George. Predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Velma Rose Stuart, and 3 younger brothers, Paul "Kip", Earl and Marvin Newsome. He is survived by a sister Joyce Newsome Raleigh, daughter Brenda, son Ron, granddaughter Emily Eve and many nieces and nephews. Bill retired from the DuPont Company after 30+ years of service. He and Velma traveled extensively both here and abroad. They enjoyed camping for many years, first in a tent and finally to a huge 5th Wheel travel trailer. Cherrystone, VA and the Jersey Shore were their favorite destinations. Bill was quite the craftsman whether it be helping someone build their house, artistic painting, leather work, carpentry, signage, or simply puttering in the garage, he was always doing something to help others with his many talents. Bill also served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 3:00-4:00 followed by a funeral/memorial service for both Bill and Velma at the Christian Life Center at 670 S Broadway in Pennsville, NJ. Burial will be private with military honors at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Inspira Hospice of Vineland, NJ, the Parkinson's Disease Foundation or to the Christian Life Center.
