Obituary of Alberta Elliott Collier

Alberta "Sissy" Elliott Collier, age 89, of Pennsville, NJ passed away peacefully on June 18, 2015 at Friends Nursing Home in Woodstown after a thirteen-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on February 19, 1926 in Pennsville, she was the daughter of Howard C. and Sara (Davis) Elliott. Alberta worked for thirty-eight years at the DuPont Chambers Works in Deepwater, NJ after graduating from Goldey College in Salem, NJ with a secretarial degree. People who knew Alberta—or Sissy as her brothers nicknamed her at an early age—remember her fondly for her quick smile and even quicker wit. She was a devoted daughter, loving wife, nurturing mother and unfailing friend. Alberta is survived by her sons Clyde Elliott Collier of Palm Springs, CA and Timothy J. Collier and his wife Karen of Wilmington, DE and grandchildren Maggie Collier and Samuel Collier. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years James C. Collier and her brothers Howard Elliott, Archer Elliott, Walter Elliott, Charles Elliott, Carl Elliott and sisters Sara Emily Elliott Adams and Barbara Elliott Raines. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Broadway and Church Streets in Pennsville where there will be a viewing from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Eglington Cemetery, East Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Friends Nursing Home One Friends Drive, Woodstown, NJ 08098, and Trinity United Methodist Church, Broadway at Church Street, Pennsville 08070, NJ or Compassionate Care Hospice, 600 Highland Drive, Westhampton, NJ 08060 or the charity of the donor's choice.
