In full trust of her faith in Jesus, Eula H. Swanson passed away on February 3, 2011 at the home her daughter where she resided. Her celebration of life and family was unconditional. Born on September 16, 1919, in Surgoinsville, TN, she was the first daughter of Charles and Estelle Hagood and was baptized Eula Annie Pearl Hagood. The family moved to Harness Creek, MD, in the early 1930's, and Eula graduated from Annapolis High School in 1937. She married Lloyd K. Swanson on November 26, 1939. In the early 1940's they lived and worked at Panther Ledge Farm, Sussex County, NJ. Eula also worked for Dr. McCall in Newton. In 1942, while living on Whitehall Farm in Pittstown, NJ, their first son was born. In 1943, while living in Flanders, NJ, their second son arrived. The family moved in 1945 to Pennsylvania where they owned and operated Mt. Lookout Park in Wind Gap. Although the luncheonette and family required most of her attention, Eula was active at First Methodist Church of Wind Gap. In 1951, their daughter was born. Eula was also a member and a worthy matron of Shutanka Chapter 202 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania. In 1960 the family moved to Holmdel, NJ, where they lived and worked on Bayonet Farm. Eula enjoyed being involved with many activities at the United Methodist Church in Redbank, NJ. She and her husband, Lloyd, were also supporters of the Holmdel Historical Society. Grandchildren began arriving in 1963 and she became known as "Mamie. In 1970, she underwent a successful open heart surgery to restore her vitality. She became the household manager and personal assistant for Laura Harding, and a trusted friend of Kate Hepburn. In 1988, La (another name for Eula) and Lloyd moved to Pennsville, NJ, to live with their daughter. Lloyd passed away a few months after the move. Eula maintained her activities at Trinity Methodist Church of Pennsville and toured the country visiting relatives as long as she was able.
