Obituary of Lucille E. Olcott
Please share a memory of Lucille to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lucille Evelle Farmer Olcott was born near Sikeston, Missouri on August 19, 1929 to Lofton B. and Zadie E. Farmer. She was later joined by two brothers and, and 18 years later, a sister. The family moved to central Illinois several years after her birth and located on a farm near Gibson City, Illinois. Lucille was educated in country schools and graduated from Drummer Township High School in 1947. She met John that autumn and they were married on April 25, 1948. She worked at Kentland Diaries and at Illinois Bell Telephone until Randi was born in 1952 and Brad in 1954. The family moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1955, Aiken, South Carolina in 1956, Where Kim was born, and Pennsville, New Jersey in 1963, where she worked for W.T. Grant until the Pennsville store closed and she opted for retirement.
Lucille (known by all as Lou) is survived by her husband John, brother Norman Farmer of Westminster Colorado, sister Karen Ream of Saybrook, Illinois, daughters Randi Paul (Albert) of Moneta, Virginia and Kimbra Myers (James) of Pensacola, Florida and Son Bradley (Rachael) of Pennsville, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother Roy.
Lou was a loving and loved woman of wit and charm; an accomplished seamstress and inspiring cook, who taught her children well to be family leaders. She was a Biblical scholar, active in Trinity Church JOY Circle, who drove the route for Meals-on-Wheels for 37 years, and volunteered for Pennsville VNA for 12 years. She and John enjoyed dancing and cruising. She loved the Lord and knew she was going to meet Him well before her death on Friday March 20, 2015
We thank the Memorial Home Health and Hospice of Salem County for easing her passage with love and candor.
A memorial service will be held Saturday April 18, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 75 S. Broadway, Pennsville, NJ where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will be private. www.laughreyfuneralhome.com
