Obituary of Walter Cantrell

Walter Cantrell, age 83 of Pennsville, passed away on January 31, 2011. Born December 10, 1927 in Marshall, NC to the late Samuel and Lita Caldwell Cantrell. Walter was a loving father and pop-pop and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Walter served in the US Army and was stationed in Portland, ME (1947). Walter was also employed by DuPont Chambers Works, where he retired in 1987 with 35 years of service. He also loved sports and was an avid golfer. Walter was predeceased by his wife Martha Grant Cantrell (2005) and a brother, Hubert Cantrell. He is survived by his son Barry Cantrell and wife Sheryl, grandchildren, Lisa Cantrell, Joseph Jess and wife Jennifer, great grandson Grason Jess. Walter is also survived by his brother and sisters, Bonnie Teague and husband Odas, Pauline Cassada, Clarence and wife Rena from Leicester, NC, Lillie Mae McCraken from Las Vegas, NV, and sister-in-law, Gloria Morris and husband Bud from Carney's Point. Walter is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Walter is also survived by his extended family, Johanna Jess, Karl Jess, Jr., Linda and Jerry Bryan and Gary Jess. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Fri. Feb. 4, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Lawnside cemetery, Woodstown. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Rd. Wilmington, DE 19810.
