Obituary of Zoe E. MacAllister

Zoe Elizabeth "Betty" MacAllister (nee Gary) 89, of Pennsville, N.J., passed away peacefully on February 14, 2015 after a very courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born In Carney's Point, N.J., she is the daughter of the late Zoe Audrey (Baird) Gary and Byron Linwood Gary. She is predeceased by her husband, Paul White MacAllister, Sr., her son, Paul White MacAllister, Jr., her sister, Rose Troupe, and her brothers, Joseph Gary and Edgar Gary. She is survived by her brother Newcomb Gary and three children, Cheryl Brown, Zoe Ann Crawford and Tim MacAllister. Other survivors include her 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A graduate of Penns Grove Regional School, she worked for many years as a teacher's aide at Central Park School and also at PMHS. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church for many years. She also devoted many hours in community service for Meals on Wheels. Another great passion was her love of local sports and supporting Pennsville athletic programs since the mid 1950s. Even after grandchildren graduated, she traveled with friends and attended games all over South Jersey. Viewing is Tuesday evening, February 17, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville from 7 - 9 p.m., and Wednesday morning, February 18, 10 a.m. with funeral service following at 11 a.m. burial will follow at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery, Pilesgrove.
