Sherwood T. Burden, Sr. (Buck) 86, of Pennsville, NJ went home to be with Jesus on June 2, 2014. Born in Salem, NJ to Howard W. Burden, Sr and Sarah E. Burden (Fox). Sherwood ran track and played football for Salem High School. He also played baseball in the County League and coached Babe Ruth for Pennsville for years. Sherwood loved to fish and bowl but most of all he loved his garden and flowers. Worked for DuPont Chambers Works for 33 years as an operator. His favorite MLB team was the New York Yankees. Predeceased by his first wife Harriet Burden, his parents Howard and Sarah Burden, his brother Howard W. Burden, Jr., sister Violet M. Burden Cagle, and 2 sisters in law. Survived by his wife Rebecca J. Burden (Oliver) sons Sherwood T. Burden, Jr. (Sandy) Frank A. Burden (Kathy), brother, Merwin Burden and his wife Sue of Ohio, 5 sister In Laws, (Olivers) 5 brothers in laws and 2 Grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM on Monday June 9th, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM and Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00PM. Burial will be at the Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro. Contributions can be made to the Memorial Fund at Hudson United Methodist Church or the Babe Ruth Basball League of Pennsville. www.laughreyfuneralhome.com
