Irene F. Permenter, 91, passed during the early morning hours of Monday, May 19, 2014. Irene was a loving mother to her eight children and fourteen grandchildren. She grew up in Carneys Point and joined the war effort serving in World War II as part of the WAC. After the war, Mrs. Permenter began her long life caring for those around her. The expanse of Irene's enormous and loving heart far surpassed that of her small stature. Irene loved coffee, chocolate, flowers, being outdoors and especially admiring birds. Irene was predeceased by her parents, Edna (nee Cannon) and Raymond Cunningham; her siblings: Herbert Cunningham, Donald Cunningham, Jean Roussin, Raymond Cunningham, Jr. and Nancy Wiggins. Irene was also predeceased by her husband John C. Permenter, daughter, Shelley Snyder and grandchildren, Renee and Brian Permenter. Irene is survived by her children, Michael (Beth) Permenter, Susan Permenter, John (Christine) Permenter, Jr., Ellen (James) Ennis, Sandra (Bruce) Johnston, Frederick (Diane) Permenter and Ernest (Danielle) Permenter; and grandchildren Michael, Stephen, Lisa, Karen, Kasey, Michelle, Kelly, Kari, Amanda, Chad, Phillip, and Michelle, as well as fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Friday May 23, at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery, Pilesgrove. www.laughreyfuneralhome.com
