John "Jack" Haldeman, age 85 of Port St. Lucie Fl. (Formerly of Pennsvile) passed away peacefully at the Treasure Coast Hospice Center in Ft. Pierce, Fl. on April 23, 2014. The son of the late Harry D. Sr & Eleanor Camp Haldeman Jack was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, boat, bird watch and stroll the beaches collecting shells. He served in the NJ National Guard from 1948 to 1952. After an honorable discharge He began a short career as a federal game warden and moved to Pennsville in that capacity. Jack and Mary decided to raise their family in Pennsville and he accepted a job with the US Department of Agriculture-Soil Conservation Service rather then transfer out of the area. He also worked for the NJ Dept. of Agriculture as a consultant for 5 years after his retirement. Jack is survived by four sons, John T of Port St. Lucie Fl, William J. Sr (Gina) of Pennsville, James M. of Hardy VA, & Steven P. (Penni) of North Springfield Vt. Grandchildren William J. Jr (Shylah), Robert J Sr (Jen), Jamie L, & Anthony J (Adriana) all of Pennsville, Katie & Abbey of Hardy VA, Zachary & Kelsey of North Springfield Vermont, and Kimberly of Egg Harbor twp. Jack is also survived by 4 Great Grandchildren, (Robert J Jr, Gavin C, Sawyer M. & Ava J. all of Pennsville) and his sister Kathryn Kelly of Linwood NJ. Along with his parents he was predeceased by his wife Mary, a son Robert L and his brothers Harry D Jr. & C. Joseph Haldeman. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday May 10th, at the Saint Marys Cemetery, Salem, NJ. www.laughreyfuneralhome.com
