Rita K. Balog (nee Brennan), 86, went home to the Lord on Tuesday near Lexington, KY where she resided since 2008. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she lived most of her life in the Mahoneyville section of Pennsville before moving to Florida in 2003. Mrs. Balog graduated from Salem High School and worked at the former City National Bank in Pennsville and St. James High School in Carney's Point. She was a faithful and active member of Queen of the Apostles Roman Catholic Church, Pennsville. Surviving are her sons Michael J. (Julie) of Lexington, KY and Mark E. of Knoxville, TN ; 2 grandchildren, Cecilia and Sean, of Lexington KY and many relatives. She is predeceased by her loving mother Theresa A. Mahoney Brennan, devoted husband Mike A. Balog and numerous extended family members. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am Monday at Queen of the Apostles Roman Catholic Church, 391 S. Broadway, Pennsville. Visitation will be 7-9pm Sunday at Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Petersburg Catholic High School Annual Fund, 6333 9th Ave. North, St. Petersburg FL 33710 or the Andrew McDonough B+ (Be Positive) Foundation, 101 Rockland Circle, Wilmington, DE 19803 (Fighting Childhood Cancer). www.laughreyfuneralhome.com
