Robert Daniel Poeta "Big Bob" of Pennsville, NJ, died peacefully on Saturday January 4, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Rocco Poeta and Cornelia Renzulli, September 15, 1939, in Salem, NJ. Bobby was a 1959 graduate of Salem high school. Right out of high school, Bobby went to work at Anchor hocking for 11 years until deciding to go into business with brother John at Poeta Bros Speed Shop. He was a maintenance superintendent at multiple hotels throughout his life. After retirement, he found enjoyment in working part time at the Clarion Park and Jet. Bobby loved to garden and taught many family members how to grow their own vegetables. He enjoyed being outside during the day with his nieces, riding bikes, playing basketball, and being goofy. At night he enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with family. Bobby would travel abroad every year to visit family in Italy and also enjoyed going south on fishing trips.
Although never having any children of his own, he lovingly played the role of father and grandfather to all of his nieces and nephews. Bobby is survived by his brothers: Rockey Poeta (Miriam), Raymond Poeta (Linda), and John Poeta (Carol) and his sister Marie Ferrell.
His nieces and nephews: Gary Poeta, George Poeta, Raymond Poeta, Rockey Poeta III, Cindy Poeta-Goss, JR Poeta, John Poeta Jr, Bobby Poeta, Roni Poeta Witt. Great nieces and nephews: Gary Poeta Jr, Ronald Orbin, Flossie Kiger, Alexis Poeta, Andrew Poeta, Justin Poeta, Rockey Poeta IV, Daniel Poeta, Jacqueline Eckenroad, Madeline Poeta, Julia Poeta, Sophia Poeta, Ava Poeta, Carli Poeta, Callie Poeta, Addison Poeta and Regan Witt. And many great, great nieces and nephews. He is pre deceased by: brother Cipriano "Chippy" Poeta (Florence), sisters Anna Miller and Angie Wildermouth and nieces Tony Orbin and Carol "Chee" Simcizen. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday Jan. 9 at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
