Harry Gannon, Sr. age 71 of Pennsville died Sunday December 29, 2013 at the Memorial Hospital of Salem County. He was born in Pennsville and was the son of the late James B. and Dorothy E. Simpkins Gannon. Harry was a lifelong Pennsville resident. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator to the Pennsville Twp. Highway Department where he retired in 1999 following 23 years service. He also retired from Gayners Glass in Salem as an operator/master mechanic following 23 years. Survived by the love of his life of 52 years Evelyn White Gannon, daughters, Diane Sorantino (Tony), Kimmy Vanderslice (Roger) and Stacy Cottrell (Jeffrey), grandchildren, Allen March, Jr., Roger Vanderslice, Jr., Shaun Vanderslice, Jackie Cottrell and Leah Cottrell, great grandchildren, Emilie March and Alex Gannon March, sister, Joann Hymer, sister-in-law, Sue Gannon. Predeceased by a son Harry Gannon, Jr. (1997), grandchildren, Ashley and Alex March, sisters, Lida, Dottie & Ella, brothers, James & William. Harry was known for his great devotion to his family. He lived for his family. He will be greatly missed by many. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday January 4, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Burial will be at the East View Cemetery, Salem.
