Obituary of Catherine R. Cherry

Catherine Ruth Cherry, age 78 of Pompano Beach, Florida entered eternal life on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the home of her daughter Donna Matarese of Pennsville with her family at her side. Mrs. Cherry was born in Roselle, New Jersey where she lived before moving to Brick Town with husband Thomas Patrick Cherry. It was in Brick Town that she raised her three daughters and worked as a secretary for Brick Town Board of Education. Upon the death of her husband Thomas Patrick in 1990 she split her time with family in Pompano Beach, FL, Smith Mountain Lake, VA, and Pennsville, NJ. Catherine's life was centered around her daughters and grandchildren. She gained her greatest enjoyment in life by helping others and spending time with her family. She touched the hearts of everyone who crossed her path. Predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Thomas Patrick Cherry and daughter Ellen Cherry Schenker who passed at age 44. Survived by her daughter Catherine A. Sullivan and son-in-law Jim Sullivan of Port St.Lucie, FL, her daughter Donna J. Matarese, son-in-law Anthony I. Matarese, and grandchildren Anthony I. Matarese Jr., Michael T. Matarese, Amanda M. Matarese of Pennsville, NJ and Andrew Schenker, Brian Schenker, and Thomas P. Schenker of Smith Mountain Lake, VA, sister Peggy Personette, and brother Robert Bolan. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Monday Dec. 2, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends and family may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown.
