Jack (John) C. Phillips, age 68 of Pennsville passed away at home suddenly on July 16, 2013. Born on September 25, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA. Jack was the son of the late Marie Bloomfield Phillips of Philadelphia, PA. Jack attended the West Catholic Boys High School graduating in 1962. Jack worked for HJ Heinz located in Salem, NJ until the plant closed in 1977. He then worked for Monsanto Chemical Company, in Camden, NJ retiring in 1996. Mr. Phillips coached Little League Baseball for many years and was an active member of the board of the Pennsville Little League. Mr. Phillips was Cub Scout Master for Pennsville Pack 97 for a number of years. Mr. Phillips was an active member of the Pennsville Fire Department, served as secretary on the board, and is a lifetime member of the fire department. Jack is survived by his wife of 47 years Elaine Stephenson Phillips, children Charles Phillips and wife Mary Anne of Wilmington, DE, Michael Phillips and wife Erin of Pennsville, grandchildren Ryan and Colton, sister, Mary Ellen Hollenden of Sterling, VA. He also leaves behind his beloved beagles, JJ and Sammy. He enjoyed spending summers at the beach and camping with his family and friends. He always had a friendly hello, kind word, and smile for everyone. He will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Salem County, North Game Creek Road, P.O. Box 214, Carneys Point, NJ 08069.
