Obituary of Ronald L Strickland, Sr.

Ronald L. "Strick" Strickland, age 70 of Merion Gardens and formerly of Pennsville died on July 6, 2013 after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer disease. Born April 30, 1943 in Lancaster, PA. Ron was the son of the late William and Elizabeth Strickland and Step Mother Naoma Strickland. Ron worked as a production supervisor at various manufacturing facilities which included Stauffer Chemical, Formosa Plastics, and Seigfried Pharmaceutical and retired in 2007. He graduated from Pennsville Memorial High School in 1961, where he participated in football, baseball, and basketball. Ron was a standout athlete in all three sports and was a key member of the 1960 undefeated Pennsville Eagles football team. Mr. Strickland also coached youth football and baseball for many years and help win multiple championships in both sports. He coached many young men in both sports and was a gifted coach and mentor. He also enjoyed playing in various men's softball leagues and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. Ron is survived by his sister Barbara Pacevich of Pennsville, Brother Donald Strickland (Joann) of Newark, De, daughter Ronda L. Coyne (Rick) of Pennsville, Ronald L. Strickland Jr. of Woodstown and Scott Strickland of Pennsville. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Danielle, Allison, Carly, Ronnie, Scotty, Dylan, and Drew. Ron was predeceased by his brother William Strickland. Fondly remembered, he enjoyed spending summers at the beach and camping with his family and friends. Ron was known for his good sense of humor and he always had a friendly hello. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
