Marilyn Mae Schalick Meyers, 76, of Pennsville, NJ passed away with her children by her side on June 12, 2013 at Capitol Health Regional Center in Trenton, NJ Marilyn was born to the late Oakford Albertus Schalick Sr. and Ethelyn Garrison Schalick of Centerton, NJ on December 3, 1936. As a younger person, she was a strong athlete and excelled in many sports. She continued her passion for athletics and received a degree in Physical Education and Health from Gettysburg College. She committed her life to children not only her own but to many others. She pursued her career in the Pennsville District School System as a Physical Education and Health Teacher for over 30 years and retired in 2000. During those years, she was part of the Pennsville Memorial High School coaching staff, as a head Varsity Field Hockey coach, Assistant Girls Varsity Basketball coach, and Girls Junior Varsity Softball coach. Marilyn was adored by so many. Someone who was well-respected, a fun-loving person with an easy-going spirit and who paid strict attention to detail and organization. She was truly known to pull out all the bells and whistles to impress, especially when entertaining and just in general. She was very passionate about family and adored her grandchildren. Marilyn preceeded in death by a grandaughter Heather Darleen Johnson and Sister-In-Law Jane Stirling. She was the beloved wife of the late John Joseph Meyers Sr. She is survived by 3 daughters, Colleen Meyers Johnson (Barry) of Bedford, VA; Charleen Meyers Tawney (David) of Christiansburg, VA; Doreen Jean Meyers of Pennsville, NJ; son, John Joseph Meyers Jr. (Arlene) of Baltimore, MD; four granchildren, Daphne Ann Tawney, Lindsay Colleen Meyers, Allison Arlene Meyers, John Joseph Meyers III, and one great Grandson Vincent Joseph Moitozo. She is also survived by two brothers Oakford Albertus Schalick Jr. (Barbara) and George Raymond Schalick (Luellen); Brother-In-Law Roger Meyers Sr.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also like to mention her special furry friends Rocky and Maggie Mae. A viewing will be held for family and friends Saturday, June 15th between 6-8pm at the Laughrey Funeral Home located at One North Broadway, Pennsville, NJ. A private graveside service will be held at the Lawnside Cemetery in Woodstown. Marilyn will always be remembered for her love and passion of sports especially finding her on the sidelines being Eastern Tech High School and Parkville's Thunder Softball programs #1 Fan.
