James F. Hefner, age 87 of Pennsville and a former resident of Millsboro, DE died Tuesday March 26, 2013 at the home of his son Jim. He was born in Caldwell, WV and was the son of the late Howard Lee and Dilcy Lee Jones Hefner. He was employed as an operator for the DuPont Edgemoore Plant in DE where he retired in 1985 following 36 years service. He was a WWII Marine Corps Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. Life Member and past Post Commander of the Pennsville VFW Post 1952, Life member of the American Legion Oak Orchard-Riverdale Post 28 Millsboro, DE, Life Member of the Salem County Marine Corps League, and the Military Order of the Cootie. Survived by his two sons, James L. Hefner and his wife Sandy of Pennsville and Jeff Hefner and his wife Anna of Carneys Point, brothers, Calvin B. Hefner of Millboro, VA, Charlie R. Hefner of Abingdon, VA, and Robert O. of Lewisburg VA, sister Gladys Gerhart, DE and 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife Jane L. Humphreys Hefner (1984), granddaughter, and 8 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday April 2, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the service. Burial with honors will be held at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery, Pilesgrove. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Hospice of Salem County, 390 N.
