Obituary of David A. Mulford, Sr.

David A. Mulford, Sr. was born 1921 in Salem, NJ. He was the son of Dr. David A. Mulford and Viola Richardson Mulford. He is survived by his much beloved wife, Stephanie Thrasher Mulford. He graduated from Salem High School class of 1939 and graduated from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania in 1948. David served three and a half years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Surviving are five very beloved children, Stephanie Kesher of Suffern, NY David A. Mulford, Jr. of Alloway, NJ, Michael H. Mulford of Winston-Salem, NC, Mary Jane Burke of Brooklyn, CT., and Jeannete Alvarado of Charlotte, NC and several Grandchildren. He is predeceased by his older sister, Claire Mulford Owen of Little Silver, NJ and his older brother Wayne B. Mulford of Elsinboro, NJ. Dave was very athletically inclined. He played golf, Tennis, Squash and exercised daily at the gym in LAC. Dave was active in Salem County Politics. He was Clerk of the Board of Freeholders, Administrator of the Board of Salem County, member and chief fiscal officer of Salem County Utilities Authority, board member of Salem County Mental Health Board. He was a long time board member of Meals on Wheels and delivered meals with his wife, Stephanie, for years. He was a member of Salem Country Club for 60 years and president for two terms. He enjoyed fishing, gunning, and travelling with his close friend John W. Davis of Fort Mott, Pennsville, NJ. Dave was an avid bridge player and he enjoyed playing bridge with his friends. David A. Mulford loved his wife, his children, his home in Elsinboro and life in general. A memorial service will be held Saturday December 18th at the Laughrey Funeral Home where Friends may Call from 10:00am to 11:00am.
