Richard J. Stephens (Rick) - 60 years old passed away at home after a long and courageous battle with Multiple System Atrophy, November 17, 2012. Rick was a 1969 graduate of Pennsville Memorial HS. Rick owned and operated Rick Stephens Plumbing & Heating for 30 years and prior to that worked with his father Stuart Stephens (Stephens Plumbing & Heating). He was an excellent tradesman with a wonderful reputation. Always a hard worker willing to help anyone in need. Rick was member of the Master's Plumbers Assoc, social member of the Pennsville VFW, an avid boater and longtime member of the Salem Boat Club., he enjoyed many sports and recreational activities and loved animals. Rick has left everyone he met with so many great memories and that mischievous grin that will never be forgotten. Rick will forever be remembered and loved by his mother, Marjorie Stephens of Carneys Pt., his children Farrah, Ricky and Ashley, his brother Stuart (N.G.)of Port Orange, FL, his sisters Suzanne Hyatt (Bill) of Mantua, NJ, Pamela Mayer (Chuck) of Bear, DE; his seven grandchildren (David, Christian, Jacob, Ciera, Ricky-III, Rorie, and Cameron)., nephews Brad Hyatt and Christopher Stephens and his loyal pups "Lucy" and "Flip" who never left his side. Rick is also survived by the love of his life Natalie Haynes and her daughter Alyssa. Rick was predeceased by his father and mentor Stuart Stephens. We want to extend our love and gratitude to his caregiver who Rick adored, and his long time good friend Frank Hofacker, who was there for him each and every day in his time of need along with Holy Redeemer Hospice Care (especially Millie and Beth). A remembrance service will be held 11:00 AM Friday Nov. 23, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 prior to the service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Rick's memory to the Salem County Humane Society, N. Game Creek Rd., PO Box 214, Carneys Pt., NJ 08069.
