Obituary of Dustin M. Deckard

Dustin Michael Deckard went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2012, due to a random act of violence in Delray Beach Florida, at age 22. He attended Camden Catholic and graduated from Pennsville Memorial High School in 2008. Dustin was an accomplished wrestler and four time District Champion, Regional Champion and placed two times at States. He reached All American in 2005 and was a Two Time Wrestler of the Year for The Today's Sunbeam. He participated in a Triathlon after graduation and attended Wilmington University, Wilmington Delaware, where he majored in Criminal Justice and was on the Deans list for both years. Dustin made you smile the moment he came into a room. He loved to make others laugh and was never afraid to laugh at himself. In his life he was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. No matter what he was going through personally he always had time to make you feel better about any circumstance you may be facing. In his younger years Dustin played Midget Football and Enjoyed Motor Cross with His Brother Eric and his Father Michael. Dustin started a new life by leaving Salem County and Moving to Delray Beach, Florida, where he worked and held down two jobs in the Customer Service Industry. He was loved by his co-workers and by the friends he made there in such a short period of time. He shared an apartment and life with Chelsea Williams and his Beloved dog Malachi. He is survived by his parents Michael and Tina Deckard and his mother Tammy Hyson and brothers Dominic, Eric and Nicholas, and sisters, Casey, and Selena, his Paternal Grandparents Thomas and Eleanor Deckard, maternal grandfather Rick Cline, and his Cousin Alexandra Ostrander who was always at his side, and by many beloved cousins. He will be especially missed by his nieces, Kamryn, Maddie, Brynn, Callee, and his beloved pit-bull Scrappy. He was predeceased by his Grandmother Frances K. Hyson and Grandmother Pauline Fredo-Kute. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, September 6, at the St. Gabriel the Archangel Parrish, Queen of the Apostles Church, Pennsville, where friends may call Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Burial will be at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown. In lieu of flowers please make your donation to The Dustin Deckard Wrestling Scholarship Fund, C/O Michael and Tina Deckard, 4 Cordrey Avenue, Pennsville, NJ where a scholarship fund will be established.
