Shirley T Griffith Obituary
Shirley Trauger Griffith, 92, went to be with the Lord July 12, 2012 at the home of her daughter, Bonnie Powers and son-in-law Marvin, with whom she had resided with and been cared for the last 7 years. Over her lifetime Shirley was a member of the Pennsville Women's club, Pennsville Babe Ruth Association and an active member of the Haines Neck Methodist Church in Mannington. In her early years in Pennsville she sold real estate for Howard Rodgers then became an active homemaker and grandmother. Earl and Shirley were snowbirds for over 40 years, spending winters in various parts of Florida, until homesteading in Snug Harbor. She was the daughter of Charles and Elinor Trauger. Born in Scranton, PA in 1919. Married to Earl Griffith in Cosby, Tennessee in 1939, they made their home in Pennsville. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Earl, son Earl C. ( Tenny ), and great granddaughter Lindsey Nicole Nixon of Las Vegas. She is survived by her daughter Bonnie and husband Marvin Powers, granddaughters Candy Renner ( Bill ), Michele Hicks ( Micah ), Jamie Gilbert, Kelli Bretz ( Todd ), Grandson, Gregory Griffith ( Karen ), daughter-in-law Janice Griffith, and 13 great grandchildren.
In the past year Shirley was cared for by Salem County Hospice nurses, Helen Bonaccorsi and Nancy Smargisso and co-workers, Libby Maurer and Reverend Walt Keller, who sang and entertained when needed. Services will be Saturday July 14th at Haines Neck United Methodist Church, Mannington.
