Dorcus Virginia "Jinny" Putnam Baker, age 80 died Friday June 1, 2012 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence, RI. She was born in Worcester, MA and was the daughter of the late Howard and Virginia Tiechnor Putnam of Alloway, NJ. Mrs. Baker enjoyed a full life. She had careers in x-ray, bookkeeping and in lay ministry in the Episcopal Church. She was an active Bible student and teacher for four decades, a prolific needle worker, a devoted member of PFLAG, and a lifelong learner. She will be sorely missed by her three daughters, Dorcas Baker of Providence, RI, Alyson Allen of Mogadore, OH, and Jo Ellen Burgess of Oceanside, CA, six grandchildren, Jocelyn Allen, Carolyn Allen, Rachel Burgess, Melissa Allen, Kenneth Burgess and Ruth Burgess, nephew, John Steve Austin of SalemPredeceased by her husband, Kenneth Dale Baker (2003) and a niece Charlette "Charl" (Mrs. Stephen) Paleschic (2011) of Woodstown, NJ. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday June 6, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Fernwood Cemetery, Bridgeton, NJ. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 N. Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
