Eugene L. Lakatos, age 81 of Pennsville died Tuesday February 28, 2012 at the Christiana Care Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Johnstown, PA and was the son of the late Louis E. and Mary Ann Lucas Lakatos. Gene was a longtime Pennsville resident. He was employed as a mechanic for the DuPont Chambers Works, Polymers Mechanical Team where he retired in 1993 following 31 years service. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. Gene was true outdoorsman an avid fly fisherman who tied his own flies and was a passionate instructor of the sport. He was known a pop to his children and pop-pop to his grandchildren who he truly loved. He will be dearly missed for his loving kindness, unselfishness, and a smile that brought so much Happiness to his family and friends. Survived by a daughter Karen M. Puitz and husband Bob of Pennsville, and a son Louis E. Lakatos and wife Marjorie of Pennsville, his loving grandchildren, Tyler Puitz, Alayna and Angela Lakatos, and his friend and companion Carol Smith from Indiana, PA. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years Dorothy Ann Goff Lakatos (2002), brothers, Robert Lakatos, sister, Margaret Yost, adoring grandsons, Kurtis and Sean Puitz. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday March 3, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown.
