Obituary of Russell H. Ahlquist

Russell H. Ahlquist, age 73 of Quinton passed away peacefully at his home following a long illness. He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on December 11, 1938 to Helman and Margaret Estes Ahlquist. Russell graduated from Penns Grove High School in 1956. After graduating from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, he worked for Atlantic Aviation and the Sunbeam Publishing Company of Salem. He then joined the Clark-Shidner Insurance Company in Pennsville, NJ. After the dissolution of the Insurance company, he and Jim Shidner formed the accounting company. Ahlquist-Shidner in Pennsville. After Jim's retirement, Randy Shidner became his business partner. Russell was a former member of the Pennsville Internationl Rotary Club. His hobbies included woodworking, making furniture and traveling, especially to Bermuda. He is survived by his wife, Sally Wood Ahlquist, his sister-in-law, Carolyn W. Ryan of Moorestown, NJ and cousin, Pat Freas of Woodstown. Also surviving him are his former business partners, Jim and Randy Shidner, special friends, Dr. Steven K. Park, Laura Brown and Donna Sickler; Traveling companion, Bob Zonies and his most recent caregiver, Denise Thompson. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday Jan. 28th at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center of Christiana Hospital, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Rd., Newark, DE 19713 of the Memorial Home Health & Hospice, 390 N. Broadway, Suite 900, Pennsville, NJ 08070.
