Obituary of Robert B. Jones

Robert B. Jones, age 73, of Pennsville, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 30, 2011. Rob was born in Swedesboro, NJ on October 15th 1938 to the late William C. and Marion Stirling Jones. He graduated from Salem High School in 1956 and later served his country in the United States Air Force. He was employed by the State of New Jersey as Superintendent of Weights and Measures before retiring in 1987. Rob enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, golfing, rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Marion Jones, brothers, John Q.S. Jones, William C. Jones, Jr., and sisters, Eleanor Jones and Catherine Kerchner. Rob is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gerry Jones; children, Tiffany Birl and husband Darrell of Newark , DE and Brad W. Jones and wife Amanda of Wilmington, DE; grandchildren, Alexis Meixell and Ian Birl, sister, Nancy Broadbent of Newark, DE and brother, Richard Jones of Scottsville, VA Funeral services celebrating Rob's life will be held 11:00 AM Monday Dec. 5, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown. Contributions may be made to the Pennsville Visiting Nurses Association 14 N.
