William Wesley "Wes" Sparks Obituary

William Wesley Sparks (WES)

Passed on December 28th, 2024. Born November 12th, 1946 to Samuel and Anna (Robinson) Sparks.

Wes grew up in Penns Grove alongside his sisters Ruth and Anna May.

He attended Penns Grove High School and joined the United States Marine Corp before graduation in 1965.

Wes endured boot camp at Parris Island before serving two tours in Vietnam in defense of his country.

While achieving the rank of Sergeant he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two tour insignia, and two good conduct medals.

After serving his country admirably, he returned to Penns Grove and started a long career as a mechanic with Dupont.

In 1978 Wes moved to Pedricktown to raise his children Ann, John and Jim.

He enjoyed the neighborhood cookouts and scaring children and adults alike during Halloween.

He was elected the great honor as Post Commander VFW Post 8840 four times.

When not at the VFW you could find Wes at the Golden Palace, Fishing or rooting on his Eagles and Phillies.

Wes was predeceased by his parents, His great grand-daughter Audrey and Toby the tarantula.

He is survived by his sisters Ruth Girtain and Anna May (Steve) Ottinger. His children Ann(Larry) Gladhill, John(Tara) Sparks, and Jim(Tara) Sparks. His grandchildren David (Erica) Gladhill, Michael Gladhill, Robert (Kelsie) Gladhill, Caitlin Sparks, James Sparks, and Noah Sparks. And his Great grandchildren Alexis, Annabelle, Estella, Myla, and Wyatt Gladhill. Along with a number of nieces and nephews.

Services for Wes will be held 11:00 AM on Friday January 3rd at Laughrey Funeral Home, 1 North Broadway Pennsville, where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery, Pilesgrove, NJ.
