Eddith Hogate, a cherished member of the Pennsville community, peacefully passed away on December 11, 2024, at the age of 100. Born in Pipers Gap, VA, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Donna Davis Stoneman. Eddith was the eldest of six Stoneman children. Her parents moved to Pennsville, NJ, from Galax, VA, when she was just a young girl. The Stoneman family became a beloved part of the community, operating an upholstery business and making house calls throughout the town. Eddith's youngest sister, Edna Loveland, is her sole surviving sibling and still resides in Pennsville. A graduate of Penns Grove High School in 1942, Eddith began her career as a mimeograph operator at DuPont Chambers Works. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Sears in Salem, NJ, dedicating 35 years before her retirement. Eddith and her husband, Harry W. Hogate, raised five children while living in Salem and Pennsville. She embraced the joys of family life, thriving as a devoted wife and loving mother. Her passion for cooking and sewing brought warmth and comfort to all who knew her. Eddith is survived by her sister, Edna Loveland of Pennsville, and her daughters: Donna Von Ahnen-Dillon (Mike), Sandy Cole (Ed), and Diane Butyter (Jim). She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren who cherish her memory: Alan Von Ahnen, Sherry Von Ahnen, David Von Ahnen, Robbie Vandervort, Jeff Vandervort, Jennifer Pinder, Jamie Cole, Jody Seeney (Dwayne), Erin Reed (Kenny), Gwen Doyle (Don), and Jim Butyter (Rachel). Additionally, she is survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Eddith was predeceased by her husband, Harry W. Hogate; her parents, Clyde and Donna Stoneman; her children, Fay Vandervort and Dale Hogate; her siblings, Emery Stoneman, Inez Stoneman, Estel Stoneman, and Howard Stoneman; and her great-granddaughter, Jatly Beduch. Eddith's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will continue to inspire all who were touched by her presence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 23, at Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville, where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 75 South Broadway, Pennsville
