Obituary of William David Cline
Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William David Cline – December 20, 1942-December 2, 2024.
Bill lived in Princeton, West Virginia, the third of five children from parents Herbert and Lillian (Paxton) Cline. He attended DuPont High School, Belle, WV. His family moved to New Jersey when his father was transferred for work and he made New Jersey his home. He never lost his West Virginia accent and was very proud of that. There wasn't a conversation that would happen that didn't contain some memory of West Virginia and loved to tell stories about playing on the hills with his brother, Jimmy at Witcher's Creek.
Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a sergeant assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 13th Artillery Group in the Republic of Vietnam from November 1968 to November 1969. He served for more than 10 years in both active and reserve duty. Thank you for your service, "Bully" as many of us called him.
Bill worked at Mannington Mills for 40 years where he met his loving wife, Nancy. They were married for 38 years and lived in Pennsville, NJ. They loved to travel and were fortunate to see a lot of the world. They would have a lot of stories to share of their adventures together.
Bill loved to golf and belonged to the Sakima Country Club and also played in the Mannington Mills League. When he wasn't playing golf, you could find him in his shed fixing things and tinkering with wood. He loved to make things and there wasn't much he couldn't fix or make. He could work on a project all day without complaining; anyone that knew Bill knows he had the patience of a saint. He was once the owner of Cline's Auto Repair in Penns Grove. Bill was a great mechanic and would step in to help anyone in need.
Bill was a very good stepfather and loved his step-grandchildren as if they were his own. He was happy when he got to spend time with them and would gladly do anything for them. Above all of this, Bill was always a complete gentleman, kind and caring to all of us.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; Sister Carol (Cline) and brother-in-law Donald Witacre; stepson John Bonaccorsi of West Palm Beach, FL. and his very best friend his brother, James E. Cline.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Doughty) Cline of Pennsville, NJ; son Melvin Cline of Penns Grove, NJ; sister Mary (Cline) Kinzer of Princeton, WV; sister Rev. Beverly (Cline) and husband Dan Baker of Man, WV; stepchildren, Lynn (Bonaccorsi) and Tom Nelson of Carlisle, PA; Gary Bonaccorsi of Pennsville, NJ and Kimberly (Bonaccorsi) and David Cochran of Middletown, DE. Bill also had many other loved stepchildren, nieces, nephews and grandchildren over the years.
A private service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
