Obituary of Jean C. Chew

Jean C. Chew, age 93, of Pennsville, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 17 after a brief, unexpected illness, surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born at home in Deepwater, NJ, on March 15, 1931, to Norman G. and Anna H. Abbott. She was a 1949 graduate of Salem High School and a clerical worker in her many years at Anchor Hocking Glass, followed by several at the Salem County Courthouse. She retired the same year as her husband, Bill, in 1993. Survived by: her husband of 40 years, William C. Chew; sons R. Frank Fox Jr. (Angelica) of Danville, VA; and John A. Fox (Grace) of Newark, DE; stepdaughter Allyson Bailey (Bob); her grandchildren Brittany Fox (Matthew Bates), Brandon Fox, Bryanna Fox, Emily Fox, Andrew Crum, Chelsea Larrimer (Alex), and Karson Chew. Her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Blake, Briar, Marley Bates, Natalie, and Jamie Larrimer, and a special list of loving friends that she held close to her heart. Her all-time favorite dog, Sox. Predeceased by: her precious daughter Debra A. Fox, son-in-law Scott Chew (Pam). Christmas family traditions and gift sharing were her absolute favorite time of the year. Jean and Bill loved staying at JORC in Jupiter, FL, in the snowbird months of January and February for 25 straight years. Boat outings on "Plum Perfect" were a source of summertime family fun and adventures for nearly three decades. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Inspira Health of Mullica Hill and Heartland Hospice of Laurel Springs for their compassionate care. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday October 23rd at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville, NJ where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown, NJ.
