Doris Jean Fox, age 93, 0f New Castle Delaware passed peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born in Hopewell, Virginia on June 22, 1931. She worked as a postal clerk for the Pennsville Post Office for many years. After retiring from the post office, she spent her winters in Naples, Florida where she met many wonderful friends. She enjoyed going to the casino at Delaware Park. Doris was a truly devoted wife, mother, mom-mom and friend. Her family meant the world to her. She is survived by her daughters, Norma Gannon and husband Chris of Bear, Delaware and Kathy McCaffery and husband Pat of Pennsville; grandchildren, Christine Laughrey and husband Rob, Patrick McCaffery, Jr. and wife Lacy of Pennsville, Christopher Gannon of Bear, Delaware and Lauren Gannon of Newark, Delaware; great-grandchildren John Patrick Laughrey & William Laughrey, Patrick McCaffery III, Quinn McCaffery of Pennsville and Baileah Zydanowicz of Newark, Delaware. She is survived by her sister, Louise Balog of Bear, Delaware and sister-in-law, Sandra Crowley of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Norman Miller Fox. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Laughrey Funeral Home, One North Broadway, Pennsville, New Jersey on Friday, September 27 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM followed by a service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery.
