Glenn L. Smith, aged 86, of Pennsville, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011. He was born in Bedford Valley, Pennsylvania and is the son of the late Scott A. and Bretta Otelia (Bosley) Smith. Glenn was born June 30, 1925 and graduated from Saxton High School in Saxton, Pennsylvania in 1943 where he excelled in football. Glenn was a WWII Vet where he served in the Navy on the USS Henrico in both the Atlantic and Pacific. He left the service in 1946 where he proceeded to work several jobs including coal miner until he moved to Pennsville to work for Atlantic City Electric Company in 1955. Glenn was an avid WWII history buff and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching his favorite sports teams, and traveling. Glenn was predeceased by his wife, Olive Pearl (Mellott) Smith and 7 of his siblings: Lily (Smith) Dick, Cecil Smith, Dorothy (Smith) Brumbaugh, Harry Smith, Dolly (Smith) Mehock, Levi Smith and Gladys (Smith) Wagner. He is survived by daughter Glenda (Smith) Morgan, her husband Alan Morgan and their two daughters Olivia L. Morgan and Julia K. Morgan, daughter Sondra (Smith) Hiles, her husband Matthew Hiles and their three children, Maxwell S. Hiles, Kane W. Hiles and Tori K Hiles. He also leaves behind many close friends and relatives who cared for him deeply. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Tuesday November 22 at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery.
