Obituary of William B. Reed

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our father and patriarch of the family William B. Reed (Reedy) on August 17, 2024. The son of Willam and Erma Reed, William was a lifelong resident of Pennsville, NJ. Growing up next to Riverview Beach Park, along with his loving sisters Barbara (Pennington) and Rhonda (Bonvetti). Pop, as he was known to his family, lived a childhood any of us would be envious of. Tales of swimming in the Olympic sized pool, watching the arrival of the daily visitors on the ferry, and cooling off next to the merry go round on a hot summer day put a smile on all the faces fortunate enough to revel in his stories. But his favorite tale of all, was the day he saw our mother Dinah for the first time. "I never saw someone so pretty in my whole life." Seeing her by chance and watching her leave, he didn't think he'd ever see her again. And then he did. The two of them fell in love, married and started a family. Eventually settling into their home on Boston Road with their three children, Donna (Lindsay), Renee (Mesogianes) and Christopher (Reed), Pop and Grandma (Dinah) created a home filled with comfort, traditions, amazing memories, and most of all….love. A dedicated worker and provider, Pop spent over 45 years at DuPont Chambers Works. As a dedicated public servant, Pop spent most of his life volunteering for his community as a Life Member and past Assistant Chief of the Pennsville Fire and Rescue Company # 1. Next to his family, and The Gannon's (Our Second family), the fire department was his home, and the members of the department were his brothers, closest friends and people he cared deeply for. Pop lived a full life and left a lasting impression on all that knew him. SON to William and Erma. BROTHER to Kenny and Barbara, Rhonda and Bob (UB). DAD to Donna and Jim, Bill and Renee, Chris and Leah. And POP to Taylor, Caitlin, Jordyn, Jameson (Jam), and Evangeline (Evie). He will be missed, He will be remembered, and He will always BE LOVED! There are no plans for a public memorial or burial service. www.laughreyfuneralhome.com
